JINGI ROAD

The stage is Kagura-cho, a fictional nightlife district. Ryuji Kurosaki, 38, a man who always stays true to his code, charges down a single road, takes down 100 enemies and settles the score with the boss. JINGI ROAD is a browser 3D action game that mixes Showa-era yakuza films and '90s arcade games with roguelite elements. Fight your way from Kagura-cho Gate through Neon Avenue, the Back Alley and the Tenant Building to the Kuroshio HQ. Along the way, Tsuyoshi Shibasaki, underboss of the Akagi family, and Reiji Hikawa, underboss of the Kuroshio clan, stand in your way — and at the end waits Iwao Kuroshio, chairman of the Kuroshio clan, who changes how he fights the harder you push him.

Fight with a 4-hit combo you pull off by mashing attack, a guard that parries attacks if you press it at just the right moment, and an invincible dodge. Pick up weapons lying around — wooden swords, steel pipes, metal bats, beer bottles, chairs and more. Send an enemy flying into a wall or a car for a “Wall Slam” and extra damage. When your Jingi gauge fills, “Jingi Mode” makes you much stronger for 10 seconds, and take down 10 enemies in a short time to start a “Rampage”. The longer your combo, the higher your score multiplier — up to 3x.

Every 25 enemies, and every time you level up, choose one upgrade from 3 cards. Gold cards are rare ones such as “Born Brawler” and “Undying”. Events like a black luxury car, vending machines, weapon cases and a mysterious old man show up in different places every run, so you can take it on again and again at 5–10 minutes a run. There's a score ranking and 12 achievements, and the more you play, the more you unlock — heroes (4 in all), outfits, BGM, weapons, and the “Shura Road”, where enemies hit harder.

On the title screen, choose how to play: “Standard” or “Time Attack”. Time Attack is a race to take down all 100 as fast as you can. A timer appears at the top of the screen, and each time you clear an area it shows your split time and the difference from your personal best. There are no parting gifts (start bonuses) on retry, so every run starts under the same conditions. Your personal best is saved with split times for each road (difficulty), and your fastest records line up in the “Fastest Ranking”.
