Two samurai face off at a crossroads at dusk. After “Wait…”, the “Slash!” signal comes at a moment you can never predict — tap the screen the instant you see it. Draw before your opponent and you take the point. Press before the signal and it's “Too early!” — you lose that round. Don't get fooled by the crow, the falling leaf or the gust of wind.

Solo mode is a five-opponent gauntlet — the Sleepy Ronin, Gonpachi the Drunk, Hayate the ex-courier, the Dojo Master and Tsukikage — best of three each. Every opponent shows a target time, and beating all five earns you the “Menkyo Kaiden” master's licence. Two-player mode splits one phone screen top and bottom for a best-of-five duel. Training mode has no opponent — draw five times in a row and your average reaction earns a rank from “Novice” up to “Godspeed”.
